Not a bad thing, for the record. It's good that we see these as exemplary, helping diminish the 'weirdness' around our hobby and maybe lowering barriers for others. It's just one of those things that's an easy story for a local reporter to write.

I feel like I see this story arise every other month, but CBC published a piece about how a D&D club brought community to a local group. www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...
Without Stating your age, post a movie that releases when you turned 18.
Standing out in the crowded market of roleplaying games often means taking risks. One podcast network is avoiding Dungeons and Dragons entirely. Explore that bold strategy alongside the newly revealed Daggerheart release date and Ravenloft updates. www.geeknative.com/2... #routinelyitemised
Lou Zocchi was a true legend - a word that’s so often overused. But in this case, none other fits.
The first true SF game I played was STAR FLEET BATTLES. I have such fond memories of 14-year old me pulling strings across the floor in ship-to-ship battles…

The weekly TTRPG news roundup! Dungeon Crawler Carl, Hope and Fear, a new official D&D AP and more! www.ttrpginsider.news/p/news-round...
Hi everyone, it's new article day. 🥰
This week, Chris Hutton ( @newsnerd.bsky.social) explores the growing anime-inspired TTRPG landscape, and its impact in the North American sphere. It's a great read and we hope you enjoy it.

We're seeing a surge of IPs like Attack on Titan, Ghost in the Shell and more get translated into English TTRPGs? Find out why in the piece I wrote about anime-themed TTRPGs in North America over at @animeherald.com !

Or they hope they can slip through the cracks of whatever tools we have to detect AI (reliable or not.) But it is definitely bonkers.
Neat! Will give it a look when I can.
I've yet to see a good use of AI in this space. The closest thing I thought was useful was someone using it to summarize and create a wiki/hub of their long-standing campaign. Still not sure it's a good use of the technology in the market, however.
A screenshot stating the following: "We recognize that AI tools—particularly for art and game design—are becoming more prominent in the TTRPG space. However, at this time: We do not endorse the use of AI-generated art in commercial products due to concerns about: Copyright and intellectual property infringement, The environmental costs of large-scale AI models, And the impact on human artists and creators. Nonetheless, we believe this is an important and evolving issue within the industry, and we will continue to cover it critically and thoughtfully."
I've been getting more AI-related TTRPG press releases over the last few month. I try to be open-minded and understand the creators' intent, but I'm growing suspicious that they're not actually reading TTRPG Insider's policy on AI in the space.
So I’m told? But that backstory is so engrossing for me.
Yes, Helldivers is satire, but it's also just a fun setting to hop on, blow up bugs, and let off steam in the name of 'Democracy'.
Warhammer is just so deep and complex yet reflective of a much darker world.
So is World of Darkness. Just a bunch of edgy bloodsuckers.....
I wonder what it says about me that my current favorite IPs that I'm fixated on at this time are Warhammer 40,000, Helldivers and Vampire: the Masquerade/World of Darkness. All very dark in themes, and yet I find them extremely engrossing.
I was invited to a preview screening of this last week, and it’s a whole lot of scary fun.
Jasmine does a FANTASTIC job and the cast has great chemistry. The production team put a ton of work into making something really cool.
Excited for folks to check it out!
Looks like the players are all using either classes or heritages from the Ravenloft book, I think? I have to double check if Dhampir is also in Astarion’s DLC from last year tho.
It should be noted that this is far from D&D’s first official AP, but it is among the first promo efforts pushed by WOTC w/ regard to the new SEASONS. I assume we’ll see a new AP/mini-campaign for each season alongside other projects.
The campaign will feature Jasmine Bhullar (DesiQuest, Dimension 20) as the Dungeon Master, Mayanna Berrin (Dispatch, StoryQuest), Christian Navarro (13 Reasons Why, Forgotten Realms: Tears of Selune), Neil Newbon (Baldur’s Gate III), and Devora Wilde (Baldur’s Gate III) as players.
Dungeons and Dragons is launching its own Actual Play series to promote its new season approach to content, starting with the upcoming Ravenloft campaign. The first two episodes premiere on April 22.

No party? No problem. The Paragon Blade from Pelgrane Press had its first physical outing at Edinburgh's Conpulsion this weekend. Designed by Gareth Ryder-Hanrahan, it focuses on the intense relationship between one GM and one player in a broken, magical world.
I asked when we'll know more about #DnDEncounters and got this reply from #WotCStaff.
We're excited to share more details about the future of D&D Organized Play next week! Keep an eye on the WPN website and ask your store to keep an eye on the weekly WPN newsletter email

You're not wrong. But I'm okay with that. I want more movies like that in theatres plz. Let us have a return to natural disaster movies!
Random thought: A Storm chaser TTRPG, about folks tracking twisters in the Midwest.
This thought brought to you by the TWISTERS soundtrack, the only country album I genuinely enjoy. (The movie's good too. I saw it in theatres 3 times)
