Finished The Godfather yesterday. I'm giving it 3 stars: it's an exciting story but poorly written. Also high levels of misogyny (the bit with the vaginal operation is just weird).

I'm whizzing through The Godfather (an easy read because the prose is very simple). So I've generated the next random number and it's going to be...War and Peace! About time I read it really.

Finally finished with Naipaul. Having now read the intro, I can see that it's one of those books that would have benefitted from context before reading (African history, Joseph Conrad). So I'm not sure whether to give 2 stars or 3.
