Produced by Penthouse magazine at the height of the 1990s adult comics boom, it launched with the money and clout to hire top flight comic and fantasy artists to produce work that the mainstream comic book industry would never dare. Labeled "adults only" but marketed to mainstream comic book readers, It was sold at both comic shops and newsstands. Between Penthouse Comix and Penthouse Men's Adventure Comix, Crimson Dominatrix would make 10 appearances and even be illustrated by esteemed artists such as Boris Vallejo and Adam Hughes The American edition of the Penthouse Comix line would burn brightly but briefly, sputtering out in 1998. It appears the Crimson Dominatrix also hung up her whip when it folded. To my knowledge, the character has yet to make another appearance. The book would be rebooted 30 years later in 2024 as Penthouse Comics. This run would be even briefer, ending the following year without a return of the character.
