#BOOKS Finished #reading 'The Palm-Wine Drinkard,' the #1stNovel by Amos Tutuola (Grove Press, 1953). Written in "young English" (per Dylan Thomas), it is archetypal, declarative, dreamlike, and fantastic. [Addtl. context: his next novel was 'My Life In the Bush of Ghosts'.]

I am currently [re]reading The Palm Wine Drinkard, the #1stNovel by Amos Tutuola, which I last read in the mid-70s. I thought it hallucinogenic then and do so again now. It's like reading a declarative dream.

#Books Finished #reading 'Up' (Delta Books, 1970), the #1stNovel by Ronald Sukenick, one of the founders of The Fiction Collective. It's good, if challenging. Pretty much post-mod in extremis. Hints of Burroughs. The author as character. That sort of thing.
