39th Read of 2026: An Architecture of Feelings by thisisshiny. Gorgeous story about the interaction of two neighbors both trying to overcome their respective traumas and fears, written with so much respect and heartfelt feeling.

"What does it take, to atone, inside yourself? To never be forgiven?"
Gosh, this was good. Sparse and precise. A life held up to the bleaching light of the Monaro plains for contemplation. 🌠 #2026reads

Relatively small number of books read in March. I still have multiple long books on the go, and got into some podcasts, which slowed my audiobook reading. Also probably have read a bit less due to other obsessions. #2026reads #MarchReads
1. Without Pride and Prejudice, by Jennifer Peel (audiobook)
2. Introducing Mrs Collins, by Rachel Parris
3. The Midwich Cookoos, by John Wyndham (reread, audiobook - partly)
4. Wild Magic, by Tamora Pierce (reread, audiobook)
5. Sunrise on the Reaping, by Suzanne Collins

TONIGHT IN JUNGLELAND by Peter Ames Carlin
Carlin’s deep dive into the making of BORN TO RUN was like a great, extensive aside to that section of Springsteen’s 2016 autobiography. I really enjoyed the learning about that period through the eyes of his collaborators.
Books are lined up on a bed. There is a trans flag as well as an LGBTQ Pride flag in the background. Authors of the books include Ijeoma Oluo, Michelle Alexander, Saidiya Hartman, Mona Chollet, Isabel Wilkerson, Michelle Obama, Rachel Ricketts, bell hooks, and Tamela Gordon
At the beginning of the year, I made the decision to buy and read books only by women/femme authors, mostly BIWOC. This is my completed read list so far since January. What should I read next?

Book cover: A rural outdoor scene - a night sky, a big tree, and the front part of a red dodge truck are in view. A black-haired woman in jeans and a flannel shirt sits on the hood of the truck. A blond woman with baseball cap, jeans, and tank top stands on the grass in front of the truck. The two women face each other and lean in close.
38th Read of 2026: Shifting Gears by Jazz Forrester. A lesbian hallmark channel romance plus spice, complete w/ small town glorification, & dishonesty as the cornerstone of the romance. Sadly not for me. Not badly written, though! Just not my fave tropes.

Been on my TBR pile forever, and I enjoyed it immensely. A cinematic tale of sisterhood and sociopathy.

I think I would’ve enjoyed this one more if I had read it with my eyes rather than my ears. I enjoy Renkl’s meditations on the natural world, but found my attention drifting.

CULTURE CREEP audiobook by Alice Bolin, read by Kristen Sieh
I am a hound for millennial-penned collections of essays about culture, but I always forget that many of my own personal references stop by the end of the 90s. Learned some stuff, but you won’t make me hate HAMILTON.

No.11 Claws of the Tyrant, by @paizo.com (Alexander Augunas, Rigby Bendele, and Erin Roberts) . #2026reads
Unusual way to tell a story in an adventure, I like it.
Individual parts do have bits that don't seem to flow, or descriptions that I don't feel make sense; but they're easily fixed.

DON’T LET THE FOREST IN audiobook by C.G. Drews, read by Michael Crouch
Tbf, I should’ve approached this one more cautiously considering my staff all love it, and our taste is pretty disparate. I can see why people enjoy it, but it wasn’t for me. Crouch is great as always.

CONSERVATION CONFIDENTIAL by Mitch Friedman
Read for an event we hosted for Friedman at the store. I appreciate his commitment to finding solutions that compromise between sometimes conflicting interests in an effort to avoid stagnation and impass.
