There was a tweet that went viral a few years ago asking people to share the #20tracks that meant the most to them. The tracks that the instant you heard them you'd stop and smile - maybe from joy, maybe melancholy. They didn't even have to be the best songs ever made, just the best songs to you.

Listen to playlist in TIDAL: #20Tracks
My 20 tracks that bring me instant joy when they come on!
The rule: can’t repeat an artist!
If you could have people listen to one album, to better understand you as a person, which album would you choose?
i just. i'm different people at different times. so i made this playlist instead.

Sorry for breaking my own rules and taking a few days off from stuff, but I had to do some self care.
Anyway, next in line are The Shondes with "On your side", one of my queer anthems of all time:

Lets do a "Gyppsy Punk"Track. "Diving For Sunken Treasure" are a band I discovered in Detmold, when I was still with my ex.
They absolututely dominated a free festival, mimicking the band before them, that was all "the next one is for the lovers" and stuff.

And now for something completely different.
It's also a german song, but in the local Cologne dialect, by BAP.
It's about the second coming of fascism, which seems pretty timely today.
The Singer is known as "Der Dylan der Südstadt" (I hope @tonybishop1.bsky.social can appreciate that),

Let's dive a bit deeper into Krautrock, and do something by Manuel Göttsching.
Imagine Berlin school early electronic music, but fronted by a Jimi Hendrix like guitar virtuoso.
That's "Ash Ra Tempel"!
I really got into that kind of experimental german stuff after discovering

Let's go with something by Manilla Road.
Something inspired by a Conan tale, in contrast to the Elric based Hwakwind song from earlier.
This one is based of "Red Nails", if I remember correctly:

So I just noticed that I didn't post a Cynic track yet!
The queerest and most awesome Metal Band you never heard of!
Made a legendary debut in '94, and then took their sweet time doing the difficult 2nd album: 14 years!

Have to go with a Sabaton one here, but probably one that not that many people would even have in their Top 10.
But I'm an avid wargamer, mostly of the cardboard counters and huge hex maps under plexiglas.
And one of the subjects that really fascinates me are the arab-israeli wars.

In light of what's going on, let's go with something that's named after a well known antifascist from my hometown, Max Ernst.
One of the founding fathers of the dadaism movement, and one of the premier global surrealist artists, painting stuff like "Europe After The Rain"
#20Tracks
Alright, let's continue with the science fiction theme (and Dan Swanö, for that matter)!
This time we will go with something from "Star One", brainchild of "Ayreon" mastermind Arjen Lucassen.
They have released 3 albums to date, with all the songs telling the story of a particular
#20Tracks
Alright, do you remember the name "Dan Swanö", and how he'd surely show up again?
Well, now he does!
This time as frontman of swedish Death Metal auteurs extraordinaire "Edge Of Sanity"!
Their crowning achievement is probably "Crimson", a 40 minute song that tells a Jack Vance-esque
#20Tracks
The next one is a bit more conventional, but one that is always confusing to most listeners this side of the pond:
"Speedway At Nazareth" by Mark Knopfler and Emmylou Harris.
The confusion comes from the fact that there is a "Nazareth" in Pennsylvania, that is the site of a now abandoned
#20Tracks
Let's go with another one that combines my love of Metal and Science Fiction!
It's by "The Lord Weird Slough Feg", who are named after a character from "2000AD", the magazine that publishes "Judge Dredd".
It's "Tiger! Tiger!", named after the book.
#20Tracks
And we'll stay in Sweden for the next selection, because it is time for some "At The Gates"!
One of the originators of the "Melodic Death Metal" subgenre, I was a bit conflicted about what song of theirs to choose.
In the end I went with the obvious choice, "Slaughter Of The Soul",
Alright. #20Tracks!
Because I'm pretty weird and have a weird taste in music, I'll go with something by "Voivod" from Quebec for No 6!
They always were the "Should have beens" of Thrash Metal from North America.
Their first 2 albums put Slayer to shame, in terms of sonic onslaught,
#20Tracks
The next one is another Swede, who also was on a Hypocrisy" album ("The Arrival")!
It is time for a Dan Swanö track!
But probably not the one you think of!
Swanö is a prolific performer/producer in the swedish death metal/prog rock scene.
And this track is one of his that sits
#20Tracks
Sorry for not posting yesterday, so today is a double feature!
No 4 is "Fractured Millenium" by swedish ufologists "Hypocrisy"!
It is not my favourite track of theirs, but it was the first one I ever heard, back in the day when I started reading a magazine called "RockHard",
#20Tracks
No 3 is -again- something unusual.
It's Bear McCreary's version of "All along the watchtower", originally recorded by His Bobness, and probably made most famous by Jimie Hendrix.
I grew up with the Hendrix version, but when I watched the re-imagined version of "Battlestar Galactica",
#20Tracks
No 2 is a lesser known Hawkwind song called "Moonglum", from "Chronicles Of The Black Sword".
I was a huge fantasy nerd in school. Of course I read "Lord Of The Rings", but what really got me was Michael Koorcock's "Elric of Melnibone".
It is part of his "Eternal Champion" cycle,
Ok track 1 is Happy Mondays ‘Wrote for Luck’ Cos Sean Ryder’s lyrics are just sublime, and the band encapsulated a beautiful moment in time that i miss tbh
“And when it’s hot, you start to melt, cos you’re not made of jean you’re made of chocolate” 🤌 #20Tracks

Post a song you like and the reason why.
Day 2
Sub sub - Space face
It reminds me of my fave indie night in manc. SOUTH nightclub with Clint Boon on Saturday nights. He always played this near the end. Later became Doves too.

First one
Yoshimi battles the pink robots (part 1)
I've loved this for years and every night its the last song I play as I can't follow it still. A great album but this is my favourite 🙌😁

hey everyone!
New Challenge. #20Tracks!
Post 20 Tracks, one every day, and tell us why you like them!
let's get to know each other a bit better in these trying times though music!
I'll start:
#20Tracks
The first one is a "Tangerine Dream" one from what is generally referred to as "The Virgin Years", based on their label at the time.
It's not from "Phaedra" or one of the soundtracks they did for the likes of Kathryn Bigelow.
Make a 20-track comp of your all-time fav tracks, each artist can only feature once. Not the 'best' songs, the ones that bring instant joy the second you hear the first note, the ones that give other people the best insight into what stirs your soul. Share when ready. #20tracks
