#25DaysofJollyStuff - Day 25 Pt. 2
Well, that's it. There were more pieces that I wanted to post, but they'll keep 'til next year.
For now here's the "Christmas Magic" final, two variants, and the final in outline mode.
Merry Christmas and happy holidays to you all!
#Christmasart
Sally in a Santa outfit, tailor sitting. Holding a wand and creating snow.
#25DaysofJollyStuff- Day 25
It’s a Christmas miracle. I just finished “Christmas Magic” about a half hour ago. While I wish I could’ve gotten to it sooner, I’m just happy it got done at all.
Variants and more after I get some sleep.
#christmasart
#25DaysofJollyStuff - Day 24
Here’s a silly one that I don't share often. From 2013, this is the promo poster for The Fischer Bodies’ “How Dr Frank N Furter Stole Xmas”.
The Fischer Bodies performed this show one time and I missed it!!! Argh!
#ChristmasArt
Sally in her Santa suit. Carrying a bag of presents over her shoulder and smiling while shushing the viewer.
Blonde variant
Ice princess variant.
#25DaysofJollyStuff - Day 23
Oh, what the heck. Here's another one. From 2022, this is “Santa’s Helper”. I was really happy with the way her skirt came out.
And this is the other centerfold in the "Sally's Super Special Christmas" art book.
#ChristmasArt
Sally in her Santa outfit. Seating in the snow as she pulls up her striped stocking. She's giving the viewer a sly glance.
#25DaysofJollyStuff - Day 23
Continuing the streak of giving my illustrations really obvious names, here's "Striped Christmas" from 2021. This one is also a centerfold in the “Sally’s Super Special Christmas” book.
#ChristmasArt
The Last Holiday Art Show on Earth It wasn't but it looked a little iffy in 2020.
Brian "Weirdartist" Lewandowski, Julie Fournier, and myself.
Doc Colony and Electric Otto teamed up to provide the beats. I don't have pics from the Marie Casey's Christmas Story themed burlesque performance though. Also had projection effects. It really was a multimedia thing.
Studio 8700's gallery area.
#25DaysofJollyStuff - Day 22
“The Last Holiday Art Show on Earth” opened on this day 6 years ago. I can always tell how much fun I have at an art show by how few pictures I take.
I think this is the event where everyone gave my wife various strains of weed and I had to carry her to the car.
Sally in her Santa outfit holding a Christmas stocking with on hand and reaching into it with the other.
#25DaysofJollyStuff - Day 21
Looks like I'm running out of days... From 2020, here's "Christmas Stocking".
Sally in her Santa outfit in mid fall and dropping Christmas presents.
#25DaysofJollyStuff - Day 2o
From 2019, here’s “Christmas Trip”.
No juicy details on this one. It was a rare drama free project.
#christmasart
Sally in her Santa outfit, attempted to pose sexily on a Christmas present, but she fell in.
#25DaysofJollyStuff - Day 19
“Sexy Christmas Pose Gone Awry" from 2018
This one was a better in my head than it was on paper. The idea was since Sally was jumping out of a present in the 2017 Christmas art, then in this one she tried to pose sexily on a present but fell in. And it doesn’t read.
Sally in her Santa outfit, happily popping out of a large Christmas Present box with her hands in the air. Glitter flies everywhere.
#25DaysofJollyStuff - Day 18
I'm running out of days and I still have a bunch of stuff to post.
From 2017, here’s “Christmas Surprise”. This was the first time I took it seriously. I even had it done before Halloween, and it made a really nice greeting card.
A personal favorite.
#christmasart
Gamera the turtle monster with a Santa hat and beard, stuck in a chimney and not looking very happy about it.
#25DaysofJollyStuff - Day 17
“This Sort of Thing Never Happens to Godzilla” - The final Killer B poster from 10 years ago.
We thought we'd try showing Destroy All Planets, because nothing says Christmas like a squid monster lopping off the heads of it's henchmen.
#christmasart
Trust me, you’re glad you can’t see this one.
#25DaysofJollyStuff - Day 16
“A Kick Out of Christmas” from 2016.
I really don’t like this one, and thankfully this was the last of the low end Sally Xmas pieces. Unfortunately, if I do a list of Sally Christmas art, I have to include it.
#christmasart #betterarttocome
Poster for Santa Claus vs The Devil done in the style of the movie poster for Dr. Strangelove. Definitely not my finest hour. #christmasart
#25DaysofJollyStuff - Day 15
From 2011, it's another Killer B poster for that flaming turd of a film, "Santa Claus Vs. The Devil".
My evil plan was to combine one of the worst films ever with one of the best, and ended up with an homage/rip off of Tomi Ungerer’s iconic Dr. Strangelove poster.
Based on the Twister package art, Santa and the Devil are playing the game, while Reindeer watch and comment.
#25DaysofJollyStuff - Day 14
(Oops, almost forgot) The Killer B promo poster for “Santa Claus vs The Devil” from 2013.
I have no idea what possessed me draw Santa and the Devil playing Twister, but I remember being pretty pleased with myself.
#christmasart
Interpretation of Saint Lucy. A young girl with long blond hair with an angelic halo, and flames in a ring around her head.
#25DaysofJollyStuff - Day 13
Happy #StLucyDay!
I've done several St. Lucy pieces over the years, and this is the most recent. From 2022, simply called "Lucy". If you know St. Lucy's story, you know it's not exactly "jolly", but I always include her with the holiday art.
#vectorart
Sally in her Santa outfit, sitting on a cloud prop. Strings that are holding the cloud up are visible.
#25DaysofJollyStuff - Day 12
“Cloudy Christmas” from 2015.
It’s a pretty simple piece, but I’ve always liked this one. Judging by the file dates, it looks like I spent a couple days noodling with it. One day I’d like to recreate this piece without rushing.
#christmasart
Sally in her holiday Santa outfit. Smiling at the viewer.
#25DaysofJollyStuff - Day 11
“Green Christmas” from 2014.
It was around this time I started taking Sally a little more seriously, even though she still didn’t have a name or concrete style. I don’t hate this one, but I rushed it out on the 23rd and it shows.
#christmasart
Poster for the film Santa Claus Conquers the Martians. However the characters in homage to a Charlie Brown Christmas - Charlie Brown as Santa, Snoopy as Voldar, and Linus as TORG the robot. This poster was made an Attack of The Killer Bs event 12 years ago.
#25DaysofJollyStuff - Day 10
Keeping with the Peanuts theme from yesterday, here’s the Killer B poster for “Santa Claus Conquers The Martians” from 2012.
I might have crossed the line from homage to rip off with this one though. LOL
#christmasart #charliebrownchristmas
Sally in her red Santa suit and striped stockings. Kneeling on the floor and looking at her tiny Christmas tree that is bent over from the weight of one ornament- in the style of the scene from the Charlie Brown Christmas tv special.
#25DaysofJollyStuff - Day 9
“I’ve Killed It”, from 2013, is another reference to an old holiday cartoon… only this one isn’t as obscure as A Cosmic Christmas.
#25daysofjollystuff #charliebrownchristmas #christmasart
Brian “WeirdArtist” Lewandowski, myself, and Julie Fournier
Electric Otto provided the beats.
Performance from “8 Blocked Users”.
Myself, Doc Colony, and Steven Gamburd.
#25DaysofJollyStuff - Day 8
It was 5 years ago that my last solo show at Studio 8700 was held.
It was my biggest show to date. Gobs of art, cosmic tunes, kick ass performances, projections, and incredible people.
It might not be Christmassy, but a jolly time was had by all.
#DetroitArt
#25DaysofJollyStuff - Day 7
From 2018, “The Cosmic Kings” - my tribute to the 1977 animated holiday special, “A Cosmic Christmas”.
Never heard of it? More in the comments…
#ChristmasArt
Sally in a Santa outfit looking at a letter addressed to her from the North Pole, informing her that she’d been naughty. She doesn’t look happy about it. Light colored background was a late addition.
Sally in a Santa outfit looking at a letter addressed to her from the North Pole, informing her that she’d been naughty. She doesn’t look happy about it. Dark background was the original design.
#25DaysofJollyStuff - Day 6
From 2012, “There Must be Some Mistake".
Sally finally got a nose and her trademark forelock curl that year. And it was around this time that she began appearing in other illustrations and local event posters.
Not a favorite, but it's okay.
#christmasart
Sally in her holiday outfit holding a present and peeking under the lid.
#25DaysofJollyStuff - Day 5
I think ill go with chronological order for the Christmas Sally art, so here’s “Christmas Peek” from 2011.
Another last minute holiday email “gift” for clients. And for some reason I didn’t give here a nose. I must’ve really been in a hurry.
#christmasart
Cover of the book "Sally's Super Special Christmas".
#25DaysofJollyStuff - Day 4
From 2022, here’s my fourth book, “Sally’s Super Special Christmas.” It has 24 pages of art, sketches, and 2 centerfolds.
Pick up yours at the Paint Creek Center for The Arts in Rochester, or Hazel Perk Cafe in Hazel Park, or drop me a line. $10.
#ChristmasArt
Sally and Molly enjoying McRib meals. Molly has her mouth open and showing Sally the chewed up food in her mouth - aka "see food". Sally is not impressed.
#25DaysofJollyStuff - Day 3
From 2020, here’s “See Food”. Yeah, this isn't exactly holiday art, but McRib season coincides with the holidays.
This was a fun illustration. But not as much fun as watching people post their pissy opinions and conspiracies about a stupid sandwich.
#Christsmasart
Chiller Drive-In/Killer B Shows comic book-esque promo poster for the film Santa Claus Conquers the Martians. The art depicts TORG the robot leaping at Santa Claus, who is ripped and ready to fight. This art is based on the comic cover art of Thor No. 135 by Jack Kirby. Boney Bob is in the top left corner say gin that he's got $20 on the robot. Trivia: During Nightmare Sinema and Chiller Drive-In's run, several actors portrayed TORG. But it was Mark Knote that wore the robot regalia more than anyone else.
25 Days of Jolly Stuff - Day 2
From 2012, my Chiller Drive-In/Killer B's promo poster for “Santa Claus Conquers the Martians”.
This film stinks, but it's nowhere near as bad as YouTube movie critics like to say. There are films that are soooo much worse.
#25daysofjollystuff #christmasart
Sally celebrating 25 Days of Jolly Stuff!
Since I wasn't on BlueSky this time last year, y'all didn't get to experience my "25 Days of Jolly Stuff" posts.
So I'm digging up holiday art from my Chiller Drive-In and Killer B years, to Sally's annual Xmas art, and other weird things. All for you!
