The male chick returned 40 seconds after fledging. The 2nd female fledged 2 hours later. After a rough return flight, the male is OK & as of this post still on ledge.

As fledge time quickly approaches, the chicks are full of energy and doing daring wingercises on their 34th floor ledge. They also no longer need (or want) mum hanging around to feed them ~ just dropping the food off.

The chicks were all over mum F24 when she delivered breakfast a little later than they liked. They needed no help devouring every last morsel and then gave mum the heave-ho when she stopped by for leftovers. 😅

As fledge nears, the chicks are more active & a little twitchy, especially first thing. Their wing exercises more vigorous, their gutter stomping louder & bouncier, and all of this happening more often on the ledge.

Tiercel Dad decided he would not to relinquish his egg time when Mum returned. She waited patiently for nearly 10 minutes before gently persuading him it was time to give up his boycott. He left without incident.

Dad arrived early for the first changeover. The next 4 swaps came relatively quickly. Dad sang chirping lullabies & Mum did her Melbourne Shuffle atop the eggs. These chicks will know who's who when they hatch.

When Dad delivered breakfast, a full-cropped mum flew to another ledge, beckoning him to bring the food gift. After having a think, dad did take the gift to the alternate location. He's been on regular egg duty, too.

Chick #3 was full of pre-fledgling angst. When Mum landed on the ledge, the chick grabbed her leg. Mum pulled away, taking the chick over the ledge with her. Fingers and toes crossed for her safety.

Mum F24 joined chick #3 to spend part of the night with her. Come daylight, #3 decided it was time for Mum to fetch breakfast and told her so in no uncertain terms. 😅
