This week I'm reading The Good Lie by A.R. Torre. I loved The Last Party and hope to get another fun but evil protagonist. Does anyone else like stories told from the point of view of the villain? #booksky ⚡📚 #thriller #psychologicalThriller #52booksayear #bookrecommendations
Book 28 of 2025 was Books of Blood Vol. 2 by Clive Barker. The best way to describe his writing style is literary horror. There are so many deep thoughts and poetic turns of phrase that are contrasted by the most graphic descriptions of body horror I've ever read. #booksky 🩸📚 #horror #52booksayear
Excited to finally read Mystic River this week. I think the movie is great and hope the book is even better! #booksky #bookreview #52BooksAYear #mysterybooks
Book 18 of 2025 was Toxic Prey by John Sandford. It was great seeing Letty mature and Lucas teasing her new beau. I was expecting more rivalry between them during the case, but Sandford expertly blended Letty's national security turf and Lucas's manhunt specialties. #52booksayear #💙📚 #⚡📚
Book 16 of 2025 was i'm thinking of ending things by Iain Reid. This was a piece of art. It begins gradually, with a dreamlike atmosphere that blurs reality. Each read reveals more of all the subtle hints leading to the novel's sad truth. #BookReview #⚡📚 #BookSky #52BooksAYear #IainReid
Book 15 of 2025 was The Last Party by A.R. Torre. I loved this book. The concept, the pacing, the characters, all of it. Definitely one of my favorites of the year so far. I look forward to reading more of Torre's back catalog. #52BooksAYear #💙 📚 #⚡ 📚 #BookRecommendations
Book 14 of 2025 was Hidden Pictures by Jason Rekulak. This unique horror novel creatively incorporates illustrations, a first for me in a full-length book. Rekulak masterfully blends visuals and narrative, turning a horror movie concept into engaging prose. #HorrorReads #52BooksAYear #BookSky
Book 12 of 2025 was Dark Angel by John Sandford. Letty truly shines as she comes into her. Hackers in LA isn't the normal vibe but Sandford manages to make it work while providing the dramatic shootouts his fans love. #BookSky #JohnSandford #52BooksAYear #BookRecommendations #GirlsWithGuns
Book 10 of 2025 was Ghost Orchid by Jonathan Kellerman. I need to catch up on this series, but this book was good as a standalone as well. As with all Alex Delaware novels, the story has an intriguing psychological element to it. ⚡📚 #BookSky #52BooksAYear #BookRecommendations #Jonathan Kellerman
Book 10 of 2025 was All The Sinners Bleed by S.A. Cosby. 5/5 fantastic read! S.A. Cosby is now a staple author for me. Growing up in the South, I find the setting and dialogue authentic. A fantastic tense thriller. #52BooksAYear #BookRecommendations #SACosby #ThrillerBooks #MysteryBooks #BookSky ⚡📚
Book 8 of 2025 was Flee by JA Konrath and Ann Voss Pererson.
I've been a fan of Konrath, and his many other pen names, since I was a teenager. He does a great job of make fast paced thriller stories with dashes of humor in them. #BookSky #JAKonrath #52BooksAYear #BookRecommendations
Book 7 of 2025 was Then She Was Gone by Lisa Jewell. A mystery and potential murder act as the setting rather than the plot of this family drama about the love and pain that comes with having children. #BookRecommendations #52BooksAYear #BookSky #HappyValentinesDay #LisaJewell #ThenSheWasGone
Book 6 of 2025 was The God of the Woods by Liz Moore. It's a sprawling mystery that spans several decades with its own internal lore. I can see why r/books voted it best Mystery or Thriller of 2024. It's definitely a slow burn, though. #52BooksAYear #LizMoore #Thriller #BookRecommendations #BookSky
Off to a good start, let's hope I can keep up throughout the year! #52booksayear #storygraph #booksky
Book 5 of 2025 is Vanishing Girls by Lisa Regan. It's an enjoyable detective novel that goes to some really dark places and is the opener to the series. Despite how dark her books are, Lisa Regan is incredibly nice and very communicative with her fans. #bookrecommendations #52booksayear #lisaregan
Karin Slaughter's Fractured is the basis of the first two episodes of the Will Trent series, now on season 3 on ABC (and Hulu). It's the second book in the series, but works great as a standalone as well. #52BooksAYear #BookSky #BookRecommendations #WillTrent
Just finished Silverview, John Le Carre’s final novel. His work has influenced nearly every spy novel in the last 60 years. Highly recommend if you love complex characters in slow burn mysteries.
Cheers to a new year!
