Moving forward with our program, we have Angélina Gligorijevic-Gojkovic presenting her work: 'Human and Birds at Blenien Rock Shelter, France'. #6thVCWAP

Angélina Gligorijevic-Gojkovic has a master's degree in Archaeology from @UTJeanJaures. She studied interactions between humans and birds during the Late Paleolithic in western Europe.

Taphonomical and Zooarchaeological analysis conducted in this study, on previously unseen Bird remains, enabled us to identify new taxa used and/or eaten by Magdalenian populations in western central Europe. These species were also great seasonal and environmental indicators.

Moving forward with our program, we have Zaira Hernández Sunico presenting her work: 'Diet reconstruction in a prehispanic population from Guayadeque ravine, Canary Archipelago, Spain'.

Moving forward, we have Iva Mihova presenting her research: 'Tracing Compositional Groups of Late Roman Glass from two caves at Punta de les Coves applying XRF and Raman Spectroscopy'. #6thVCWAP

She has a MSc in Archaeology from the University of Barcelona and currently works in commercial archaeology. Her research focuses on analytical techniques applied to archaeological materials, in this case Roman glass artefacts examined with XRF and Raman Spectroscopy.

This study highlights the difference in production technologies and recycling practices across two periods of the Roman Empire in the same spatial setting.

Moving forward with our program, we have Fionna Huggins presenting her work: 'A compositional analysis of First-Millennium AD ceramics in the Kruger Park'.

She holds a BA Honours degree in Archaeology and is currently pursuing her Master’s in Archaeology at the University of Pretoria. Her research focuses on the compositional analysis of first-millennium AD ceramics from the Kruger National Park in South Africa.

This study presents preliminary findings from a ceramic analysis integrating stylistic and chemical methods. This approach identifies clay source areas, making it possible to determine whether ceramics were locally produced, imported, or both, offering insight into trade networks

Opening our session 6, Fatma Kalkan is presenting: “Did You ‘Read the Room’, Really? Sediment Geochemical and Phytolith. Evidence from A Neolithic Floor Context.”

She is an archaeologist specializing in human–space relationships in the Neolithic. Her research uses a multiproxy approach integrating sediment geochemistry, phytoliths, and spherulites to study archaeological floors as active agents in everyday practices.

This study provides high-resolution insight into how Neolithic domestic spaces were organized, maintained, and used, as well as how plants structured everyday practices during the emergence of sedentism.

🎤Our next speaker is Kyra E. Johnson. She will be presenting : 'A revised approach to the use of cortical surface texture of bone for the identification and interpretation of heat alteration.'

She is a doctoral student at @rutgersu and currently works in @alma_ru_lab under the supervision of Professor Dan Cabanes. Her work focuses on understanding how fire can be identified in the archaeological record using bone as a proxy.

This study explores how the surface texture of bone changes during heating and how variations in different features can aid in the identification of variable burning conditions.

🎤 Our next speaker is Ana Delia González Jiménez. She is presenting her research titled: 'Egyptian Women’s Agency over Their Own Past: Towards a Fairer Archaeology'. #6thVCWAP

She is an archaeologist and anthropologist, and a PhD researcher at the University of Granada. Her doctoral research explores landscape and collective memory on Luxor’s West Bank through community archaeology and ethnographic approaches.

This study shows that Egyptian women play a central role in the transmission and resignification of the pharaonic past through everyday practices and belief systems. Integrating these local perspectives is essential for developing a fairer, community-based archaeology.

🎤Mária Lepiš Valigová is a PhD student at the Institute of Archaeology of the Slovak Academy of Sciences and Comenius University in Bratislava (Slovakia). Her research focuses on gender archaeology within the Eastern Hallstatt culture.

This study examines clay stamps in the Eastern Hallstatt culture as tools of female visual identity. Analysis of grave and settlement finds suggests they had both everyday and symbolic functions, highlighting their importance in gendered communication.
