Yesterday I had the pleasure to meet the team from BT Group to celebrate #999Day and recognise the incredible work of their frontline staff, who support our emergency services every single day.
⚠️ Remember: 999 is for life-threatening emergencies only.

#999Day
It’s hard to put into words how I feel about the Emergency Services on #999Day 🚨
So I’ll paraphrase what my friend Sam said:
“I find it crazy people are so ungrateful when society has advanced to where you pick up a phone, ask for help and we come running…”
Thank you all. 🫡

The fire engine is red and florescent yellow with the words 'london-fire.gov.uk' printed across the top. Borough Commander, Kerry Whitehorn (right), stands listening next to Vicky.
I am so grateful to all the people working tirelessly on the frontline to serve our communities and to keep us all safe.
Around 2 million people work and volunteer across the NHS and emergency services.
Today, we celebrate them.

For us, every day is #EmergencyServicesDay - we're spending it discussing our 2026 exhibition (stay tuned!), educating new officers on Met history, giving tours of our #CM150 exhibition, advising fellow police historians from Teeside, putting the finishing touches to a display at Hendon ... #999Day
