Heading back to Canada as #AAJTaiwan comes to a close. (@ Terminal 2 in 桃園縣) https://www.swarmapp.com/c/7SgHYtoQfcr
#AAJTaiwan moment of surrealism: Watching elderly women falteringly line dance to Uptown Funk in a park at 9:30 at night. #FunkYouUp #UptownFunkYouUp
#AAJTaiwan Observation: Daily ife in Taiwan in many respects does not start until noon, but stretches late into the evening. Restaurants, shops, and more just don’t open until later in the day.
#AAJTaiwan Observation: Taipei bus drivers WILL keep to their schedule. They are nice, courteous, and professional, but you better be ready to fling yourself on and off the bus at stops.
#AAJTaiwan Observation: Taiwan has invested in serious infrastructure building and maintenance, much more so than the U.S. High speed trains, subway, light rail, and buses complement each other seamlessly. A hugely subsidized single payment method for all of them tops it off.
Waterfalls, clouds, caves, and temples along the winding road of Taroko Gorge. #AAJTaiwan www.instagram.com/p/BwasdGdDanY/
#AAJTaiwan Hot Take: Most night market food is just regular food prepared by carnies.
#AAJTaiwan Day 12: Stopped at @smoothiehouse15 for mango shaved ice.
#AAJTaiwan Day 10 & 11 were spent in Hualien and Taroko Gorge, eating goat milk ice cream and hiking in cloud-filled caves among temples.
Bought this portable tea brewing ceramic set from Lohas Pottery today. #AAJTaiwan m.intl.taobao.com/detail/detail.html

The Hotel Bayview has been a wonderful place to stay. #AAJTaiwan (@ 七星潭渡假飯店 Hotel Bayview in Sincheng Township, Taiwan) https://www.swarmapp.com/c/bw5yI3EDSss
#AAJTaiwan Day 8 was a visit to Tamsui. Old Victorian English consular buildings and a walk along a carnival-esque waterfront.
Day 7 of #AAJTaiwan was a visit to the National Palace Museum. Sadly the jade cabbage was out at a different exhibition.
Day 5 of #AAJTaiwan was mostly spent in transit, but I did get to try stewed eel!

#AAJTaiwan Observation: The garbage trucks in Chiayi City play music like ice cream trucks. There may be a lot of unhappy children in this city.
An #AAJTaiwan observation: Taipei may have more motor scooters than people. They line the sidewalks like a crowd waiting for a parade that never comes.
Days 3 & 4 of #AAJTaiwan were spent in the mountains without internet. Walking amongst tea plantations and watching the sunrise over Alishan Forest. A quick nightmarket stop once back in the city.
Day 2 #AAJTaiwan: Took the Maokong Gondola up overlooking Taipei. Tea fields and tea houses grace the tops of the mountains.
First impressions of Taiwan: The humidity slaps you in the face when you exit the plane. An aging airport set amid rice paddies in a flood plain. The ride to Taipei reveals elderly, soot-covered buildings divided by impressive infrastructure. In the city, signs riot. #AAJTaiwan
