ABQ BioPark We have more egg-cellent news! Gentoo penguins Digit (female) and Killian (male), parents of Ike who hatched in 2022, have a new chick! The chick hatched November 3 and is currently being cared for by both parents in their nest in the Penguin Chill habitat. The baby may not always be easily visible as the parents must keep the chick under them to keep it warm. The penguin care team is providing extra support and diet to the parents, who feed the chick by regurgitating partially digested fish. The care team have inspected and weighed the little ball of fluff to ensure it's thriving, and Digit (orange wing bands) and Killian (tan wing bands) are doing a wonderful job! When the chick is old enough to start venturing out of the nest, the family will be moved behind the scenes where the chick can learn to swim in a smaller pool.
