Thanks for this encouraging message! I'm not attending #ACSDenver, but I happily wore an N95 mask at #ACSNola in the spring, including during my oral presentation. It's great to be able to connect with people with decreased odds of getting sick or getting anyone else sick.

Like I get it... we are all TIRED.

It sucks that we are still dealing with this four years later.

But if the only people in the room who are masking are the disabled individuals??

Think for a minute about how the burden is on disabled folks to protect themselves.

And it is really not enough for a conference to "strongly encourage masking" during a COVID surge.

If we want to have an accessible conference where disabled folks feel safe and included, an indoor mask mandate should be in place during a COVID surge.

Even if you recently had COVID or are not worried about COVID, choosing to mask normalizes it for those of us who really feel that they *must.*

Right now when governments are banning masks, it is really important to normalize wearing masks during a COVID surge.

I don't know if this is helpful for anyone else planning to go to #ACSDenver, but I will be wearing an N95 mask at all times indoors.

I am a chemist, but I am also disabled. In a COVID surge, masking helps me stay safe and also reduces transmission in general.
