#ADPHConf2024 interesting to hear the policy context, the reassuring noises about the public health grant etc. however, both policy context and money are levers for us to improve public health, however DPH ability to influence decision making is key. This can be made very difficult in local gov. 1/2

The context of climate change is worth considering within this too - an additional factor adding to our burden of ill health and health service demands. #ADPHConf2024

#ADPHConf2024 evidence and practice demonstrates that the public are far more supportive of population level health interventions than politicians - yet political rhetoric remains rooted in funding downstream interventions in healthcare. Reinforces the need for prevention to drive the system.

UK economy will not be sustainable in the future if the current disease burden remains proportionally the same or worsens. Inequalities drive this; opportunities to intervene on starting well and working well through prevention, behaviour change and environment.
