The last Alberta Energy Regulator CEO (Laurie Pushor) apologized to me in Drayton Valley about flaws in the AER’s One Stop computer system issuing flawed approvals (I proved it, Regulatory Appeal Proceeding 411).

He hoped I would notice improvement (I haven’t).

In my view the legislated orphan fund model is not only sustainable, PROVIDED the law is properly enforced and interpreted, it is the envy of the world.

Problem: The AER is not ensuring the fund is adequately capitalized. Without proper administration, the model is NOT sustainable.
