Adverse appeals court ruling could kill GPL software license Defense of FOSS licensing rests on the shoulders of a guy in Virginia

If the appellate court upholds that decision, current assumptions about the enforceability of copyleft licenses will no longer apply.

The Hyve - The Hyve Explore the AGPLv3 license, strong copyleft, pangenomes, SaaS distribution, and derivative works. Clarify open-source licensing complexities with insights on GPLv2, GPLv3, and AGPLv3

In our latest article, Harry van Haaften, explores the purpose and implications of GPL licenses, including the #AGPLv3, and addresses concerns raised by Google's stance on this license. Curious about the conclusion? Read the article here: www.thehyve.nl/articles/goo.... #GPLv2 #GPLv3

And a reminder that the "Functional Source License" and the "Business Source License" are in most cases preferable to #AGPLv3:

Hmm, I can understand #AGPLv3 use for eg. SaaS applications, but in JS-libraries even GPL is too copyleft and restrictive โ€“ LGPL is the only copyleft license that's really feasible.

The AGPLv3 here feels mostly like #OSS-washing โ€“ its a "try before you buy"
