As I pack for #EGU24 - my first big conference since before COVID - I am reminded of the time at #AGU19 where that traditional little Italian restaurant had different menus for the men and women. βοΈ
Congrats to @davidmpyle on the @vmsg_uk award, & #TBT to David's #AGU19 talk on Alexander von Humboldt, which featured this wonderful Oliver Wendell Holmes tribute to Humboldt's work on #volcanoes:
'He read the record of the planet's page, by Etna's glare and Cotopaxi's torch'

Well, #AGU19 was a wonderful whirlwind! Meeting new and old colleagues, learning new science... and I even ventured into the hydrology section this time! But not gonna lie, I'm pretty happy to be back to my regular morning commute!
Based partly on suggestion from @goodnesglaciers last year, I added pronouns to my #agu19 badge. Several people asked me about it. When I explained that it might make ppl who would otherwise not feel comfortable, feel comfortable being themselves, they βgotβ it. 1/2
