After suffering fire damage in the late 1980s, Kinghorn Town Hall was boarded up. 🏚

Now, thanks to Fife Historic Buildings Trust, the building has been converted into a holiday let, providing a special place to stay and experience Fife. #AHF50

In the 90s, Strathclyde Building Preservation Trust undertook a unique project to bring this ornate set of gentlemen’s toilets back into use.

Our next Project of the Week for #AHF50 is the beautiful New Lanark, a unique cotton spinning mill village that has undergone an ambitious programme of revitalisation and is now ‘a thriving community, visitor destination and World Heritage Site.’

Saved from demolition, this 18th-century tenement was later purchased by Cockburn Conservation Trust, restored to its former glory & sold as flats. #AHF50

This historic fort has been restored for community use, accommodating youth mental health services & hosting meetings for a variety of organisations – a vital resource nestled in this unique part of the village's history.

From a derelict former wool store to a bustling childcare facility ‘busy with little feet running around it’ – The Woolstore has been given a new lease of life that is ‘helping to shape the little minds of Caledon and surrounding areas.’ #AHF50

Celebrations for #AHF50 continue with our next Project of the Week, Gracehill Old School.

Following a fire, this former school was left vacant in 1999. What ensued was a campaign to restore it for the benefit of tourists, visitors & the local community.

This enchanting country residence is one of Northern Ireland’s most significant historic houses.

After being gifted to a newly formed trust in 2006 & undergoing restoration, today it is an entirely volunteer-run attraction.
