After #SMLP2025 I took a train to Prague to attend #AMLaP2025. So glad that this AMLaP was my first! Had a great time (re)connecting with everyone and learning about some really cool work being done by colleagues in Europe. Hope to come back to this conference!

(I had a similar feeling with the much smaller #amlap2025 -- even at 20x smaller scale, there's just *more variety of things* going on at AMLaP than at ACL.)

Great presentation by @fabiomarson.bsky.social last Saturday at #AMLAP2025! He shared his latest research using EEG to study how we integrate novel semantic representations, “linguistic chimeras”, from context.

Congratulations on a fascinating talk!

Really happy to have presented a poster on my work “Reliable measures of orthographic statistical learning predict spelling but not reading skill” at #AMLAP2025. Other honorable mentions go to this gorgeous painting at the national gallery and the beautiful weather throughout 🌅🕶️☔️

I had a fantastic time at #AMLaP2025 in gorgeous Prague! Great feedback on my poster, lovely talks, wonderful reunions, and a phenomenal keynote by @lindadrijvers.bsky.social (so relevant when looking at the photos of my own presentation... 👐 ).

Today at #AMLaP2025: In 🇨🇿, sentential negation causes both NPI and NCI (negative concord) illusions, contrary to the predictions of active scope and scalar theories. This is me saying my money is on feature percolation. Check out the poster here: www.researchgate.net/publication/...

Three elderly people next to me on the train to #AMLaP2025 are having a lively conversation in a wild mix of high German, Swiss German, Swabian, Spanish, and Italian. They switch between up to three languages in each conversational turn.

Screenshot of a poster for an academic conference. Title is "Transformers Fail to Predict Consistent Effects for Agreement Attraction Configurations". Poster talks about the research question, study design, and results. Pretty basic look, probably too text-heavy for this type of poster.

I made a poster for #AMLaP2025 (academic conference) using #LaTeX #Beamer. I chose Beamer because I wanted the design part to be as painless as possible and focus on content. I think the result looks pretty decent. What do you think? And what's your preferred way to make posters?

Call for Abstracts ## Abstract submission guidelines * Submission deadline: 25 April 2025 * Abstracts should be submitted as a single PDF file via Open Review * Please note that OpenReview has a moderation process for registering users with non-institutional email addresses, which may take several days to complete. Therefore, we strongly encourage applicants using non-institutional email addresses to **register early** , even if they plan to submit their abstracts at a later date. * Abstract should be fully anonymized. * For the abstracts, you can use our templates (MS Word or LaTeX). * You can use up to three pages. * The first page contains the main abstract * The second page is used for references, tables, and figures. * If you are reporting on a language other than English, a third page may be used to explain the specificities of the given language which the readers may need for understanding the research. * Template properties: * A4 size pages, all margins 2 cm * font Arial * font size 12 (for paper title), 10 (for the rest of the text, including references) * line spacing 1.5 * below the title, leave at least five free rows (10pt) for the initial submission * the de-anonymized submission will then have authors on the second row, their affiliations on the third row and corresponding author’s email address on the fourth row – if your submission has many authors with various affiliations, try to fit them there before submitting the anonymized version and leave enough empty rows to fit there later. * There is no limit for the number of submitted abstracts per person. Step-by-step OpenReview registration (pdf) Step-by-step abstract submission (pdf)

Thrilled to see that AMLaP 2025 in Prague has adopted the idea to give authors an optional third page if they are studying a language other than English! 👏 🎉
