Wanted: an electrical grid that runs on 100% renewable energy – Physics World Global conflicts are making renewable energy more attractive, but an all-renewable grid will require solving physics problems as well as political and economic ones

Is it possible to have a 100% renewable energy grid? #APSGlobalSummit via @drmlharris.bsky.social

Had a great time at #APSGlobalSummit! Discussed unexpected resonances and sudden lifetime drops at high photon numbers in #KerrCat qubits. We ran experiments to explore the cause, and there's much to learn. Check out our findings here: arxiv.org/abs/2409.13113. Would love to hear your insights!

On the road to #APSGlobalSummit
TSA agent: Is that a crochet hook? I haven’t seen one going through the machine in a long time! And what are those little plastic thingies

PM: Those are stitch markers

TSA agent: The more you know. Nice way to spend your time while waiting.

APS global summit attendees, check out the inaugural T-shirt of division of material physics. The back side contains graphics I designed. It's a collage of stylized images depicting systems or phenomena relevant to material science research. I hope you all have a great week.
