Hi Mandy, is #DARTS9 definitely the hashtag? I’ve been using both that and #ARLGDARTS9 (in my oversharing and conference hashtag obsession!), as I’d seen both at various points. I will just use #DARTS9 now if that is the official one. Thank you :)

I’m finishing up my work for the week, as I’m off to Wiltshire tomorrow for the #ARLGDARTS9 conference (starting Wednesday). Have just finished the search & record upload element of 1 of the #systematicreview research experiences I want to talk about in my presentation on Thursday. Feeling excited!

I haven’t got the same fellowship research experience yet to talk about further experience and solutions. But I will talk about my librarian researcher journey (including challenges!) at the #ARLGDARTS9 conference next week…

I’m getting there (I think) with these images for my #DARTS9 slides (which need to be completed by tomorrow). I love how a theme comes together. And how the images are sparking connections in my mind to do with the topic I’m talking about. Feels a bit like Lego Serious Play. #ARLGDARTS9

As I look again at my #DARTS9 presentation, I’m pondering conference slides that are just images vs slides with text that prompt elaboration. I definitely don’t just read off slides, but I do like smart art with headings to expand on. Am now doubting myself though about my lack of images #ARLGDARTS9

I’ve never booked an extra day of accommodation for a conference, but am treating myself, and giving myself time the afternoon and night before the conference to rehearse and relax (not that I won’t be keen to chat to anyone else doing similar!) #DARTS9 #ARLGDARTS9

I’ve just booked my travel and (extra day of) accommodation for #DARTS9 - two things ticked off my list. Now I just need to finish my presentation slides (and later practice everything I want to say, multiple times, in order to keep to time). #ARLGDARTS9

That’s less than three minutes per slide. I could easily talk about each element for 10 minutes… I know I will get there with prioritising in the end, but will need to go through the whole thing getting much longer before I decide where to prioritise. And cut and cut some more! #DARTS9 #ARLGDARTS9

The more I work on my presentation for #DARTS9, the more I accept that 40 minutes isn’t as long as it sounds (I did know this already really!). I currently have 14 slides (only half nicely formatted yet, and it’s likely more formatting will lead to more slides) #ARLGDARTS9

I know my presentation will change so many times over the next few weeks before I get to a final version (& that I’ll still be tinkering with what I’m actually going to say the night before!), but it feels good to have an initial structure of slides to work on and get my ideas organised #ARLGDARTS9

I’ve just created a first (or early) slide listing my researcher librarian journey (so far). It has 18 boxes on it. If I keep this in the final presentation I am going to need to be very strict about not talking about all of them… It’s meant to be there as an introduction… #ARLGDARTS9

I will be looking at my #ARLGDARTS9 abstract to see what I actually said I would do, and ensure I do this, but wanted get my current thoughts down first, to note what has come up/changed in the past six months.

I’m doing a brain dump of ideas for my #DARTS9 presentation, initially a history of myself as a researcher (not to cover it all in depth, but to work out focus points). I keep thinking of more things, and it’s exciting to note how much my experience has progressed in the last 3-4 years. #ARLGDARTS9

LinkedIn post by Alice Cann: It’s hard to decide which of these presentations and workshops to highlight as a reason to attend the #DARTS9 (Discover Academic Research Training and Support) conference, if at all possible. I will be presenting at it myself, about my researcher librarian journey - something I’m looking forward to more and more, but attending and learning from all the other speakers is something I’m just as excited about.

I’ve been very interested in Elizabeth Gadd’s career experience, working outside of the traditional library environment, and missed out on meeting her at the ARMA UK (Association of Research Managers and Administrators) managers and administrators conference a couple of years ago. I love my job as an Academic Liaison Librarian, but do have interests in using my librarian skills in contexts beyond traditional library areas.

Kim Davis and Catherine Dack are presenting on their experiences of being part of the 2nd RLUK - Research Libraries UK and ARMA Research Catalyst Cohort. I gained so much from being part of the first cohort, and continue to have an interest in this valuable initiative.

As someone who has gained from Beth Montague-Hellen’s facilitation of other librarians’ opportunity to research, I know her workshop on strategies in this area will be great.

Continuation of LinkedIn post by Alice Cann: Stuart Hunt’s and Gillian Siddall’s sessions are also right up my street, along with the other presentations - by Tim Wales (my previous boss) on publishing and Frankie Marsh and Lucy Woolhouse on open research - a topic that I have had much more of a focus on as a result of my work with Beth (above).

This conference seems so well put together. I know there were loads of great possibilities, and I can see the themes and connections running through. This is something I usually recognise about halfway through a conference; it’s nice to be feeling it already.

I’m also looking forward to talking with other attendees at all the in between and social/networking bits. I think this is going to be a great conference and I encourage anyone for whom it’s a possibility to think about booking. #ARLGDARTS9 #librarians #conference

One of my plans for this afternoon (I have 4 hours to myself in the Wellcome Collection reading room while my children are at something!) is to go over my #DARTS9 #ARLGDARTS9 abstract & start plotting out my presentation. It’s going to be a great conference, & I highly recommend booking if you can.

Thank you :) I think the more of these ‘How did I miss that glaring omission (or whatever) before?’ moments, the more confident I get about owning up to it, & learning from the experience.

(This is kind of a profound moment actually, & one that I’m going to probably include in my #ARLGDARTS9 talk).

Nothing like signing up for #ARLGDARTS9 on the day of the early bird deadline. So excited to be attending my first DARTS conference!

I’m looking forward to #ARLGDARTS9 in May, both my evidence synthesis projects, developing my social media conferences idea, the 3rd iteration of my #systematicreview teaching, the Tranform your career as a librarian course… I wrote about these in my year in review #ResearchAdvent #Day24

I'm so excited to have 40 minutes to present at a conference next year (max I've previously had is 20). And yet there is lots to cover, and I know I will need to cut a lot anyway, and consider what is really most important. #BLAWinter24 Ned says whatever the talk is, take 10% off. #ARLGDARTS9

I’m excited about preparing my presentation for #ARLGDARTS9, ‘Becoming a researcher librarian: Building knowledge through experience’. Also excited about the actual conference, but having this presentation to integrate my past & ongoing experiences into is wonderful #ResearchAdvent #Day11 #DARTS9

This is proving a bigger and bigger challenge. I’m definitely speedier than last time but slower than I want and need to be. Something to include and ponder on in my #ARLGDARTS9 presentation at least…

The impetus was wanting to have this feeling recorded for use in my #DARTS9 #ARLGDarts9 presentation next year, but I think I am feeling inspired to blog about it. Maybe. Tomorrow.
