A desolate WW1 battlefield
After four years of the meat grinder known as #WorldWar1 the two sides declared an #armistice to begin at 11am on November 11, 1918. The outcome was the #treatyofversailles, placing blame for the war solely on #Germany.

#PicOfTheDay Another seldom visited site, #PontDuHem @cwgc.bsky.social #Military #Cemetery #LaGorgue. Started in July 1915 by medical units, it was then used until April 1918. After the #Armistice #German & #Portuguese graves were removed & #British added. Over 1500 men now stand easy here.
