Ending a week trip to Washington, DC for #ARNOVA24 & visiting old friends. In 2009 I came for Obama's inauguration & stuck around. Got a job at a bar on Capitol Hill & often forget how formative that experience was to some of my views on DC professional culture, public institutions, & policymaking.
So nice to be in the same room with @jaclynpiatak.bsky.social, Jo Carman, & the rest of the Nonprofit & Voluntary Sector Quarterly Associate Editors & Editorial Board members at the #ARNOVA24 conference in Washington DC last week. I love my work as AE & helping to shape the development of our field.
Our panel at #ARNOVA24 was enigmatically titled "Hot Topics in Philanthropy". I presented data from work with Matt Hornsey & Jess Spence comparing the relative influence of empathy & effectiveness information on charitable giving. Spoiler: both are positively associated but only empathy is causal.
