#LatePost - time has been flying. I was honored to participate in the #ASSW2025 conference in Boulder Colorado including, #ICARP-IV, #CAVSI, and #PECWS workshops in late March.
This meeting restored my wilting hope for conservation of Arctic ecosystems by those who care and depend on them.
The EDeN and POLARIS teams had a great evening over dinner during the 2025 Arctic Science Summit Week in Boulder, CO. Grateful for the opportunity to exchange ideas, strengthen partnerships, and continue conversations around Arctic resilience and community-led research. #assw2025
& when conversations & passions shared are about how "these/not just these, might dovetail/better dovetail", say,...

I reflect on our 3 July meeting, @sauyaq.bsky.social ... as well as the last few decades, the RTP3 work, #ASSW2025, ICARP IV
✌️✊🙏
Personally, this meaningful, cross-disciplinary discussion of #datarescue and making sense of what we already have was a welcome balm for the AI-steeped discourse being advanced by some of the algos and apps these days. #SciComm #ASSW2025 11/n
I’ve been thinking about #Arctic Science Summit Week and what it means when people gather, when they gather about science, who can gather and how (or not), and how we move now.
Here’s a longish thread about some of the through-lines I tracked across the meeting. #ASSW2025 (Feel free to mute!) 🧪🧵
#EUPolarCluster at #ASSW2025 ❄️
We had a great panel discussion on "Enhancing the Role of the EU Polar Cluster as a Network for EU-Funded Projects." 💡
It was also a pleasure to see our Cluster members stopping by the booth to present their projects and connect with others! 🙌
RIght?!
& it's "more clear" for those *anywhere* in lower48, then, too, to "communicate to policy makers" & families, communities, to "better understand & trust expertise" when www.belfercenter.org/event/us-nor...
does or doesn't reflect & support active savvy of RPTs & others just w/ #ASSW2025, eh?
Bat signal!
Was anyone at #assw2025 who can shed light on the story behind this poster?

Leaving #ASSW2025 with fresh insights on #Arctic infrastructure issues. @colorado.edu provided a great venue to foster collaboration and rethink our work with local communities 🏞️🏗️ Our work must be even more grounded in local knowledge and easily accessible to make a real difference. @infranorth
Postdoctoral researcher Kelcy Kent shared flux data that show need for year-round monitoring, and co-lead Brendan Rogers shared a poster on Permafrost Pathways and reported out as part of the ICARP IV Research Priority Team 2 on Arctic observing and modeling needs. bsky.app/profile/perm... #ASSW2025
Carbon monitoring team lead Kyle Arndt took part in the Circumpolar Arctic Vegetation Science Initiative Workshop, and delivered an invited talk at the NOAA Global Monitoring Laboratory seminar series. #ASSW2025
People sit in semi-circle listening to a speaker wearing red at the Indigenous Pavilion on the campus of CU Boulder, which sits on the traditional territories of the Cheyenne, Arapahoe, and Ute Native American nations. The Flatiron mountains stand in the background.
🧵 Our team had a great Arctic Science Summit Week in Boulder, which is located on the traditional territories and ancestral homelands of the Cheyenne, Arapahoe, and Ute, and other Native American nations. Thank you to everyone who joined the conversations about improving Arctic research! #ASSW2025
Thank you for a wonderful week #ASSW2025 & @iasc-arctic.bsky.social! It was such a pleasure to hear from fantastic scholars and practitioners on all things #Arctic research and chair a thoughtful panel with Romain Chuffart on how non-Indigenous scholars can engage in decolonial research.
Session on ice interventions/geoengineering at #assw2025
At best we are buying time - the schemes proposes require enormous amounts of money and time - resources which should instead be used to reduce global emissions.
Research is necessary, but we need a moratorium on field experiments.

The Arctic Science Summit Week #ASSW2025 ends tomorrow. Consider attending the session 3.7 on #Sustainable and Responsible Scientific Practices for the Protection and Preservation of the #Arctic #Environment. We will present our CO2 emissions calculator for Swiss #polar projects.
To've not had offer then "from community", for me to "get to go";
"Local respect & community"? Please!
✌️✊
"This community"/FAI has been "woeful" so?
It's been heartbreaking to "just keep taking-it",...
& now, #ASSW2025 is in Boulder of all places,...
It's *nuts*, & *heartbreaking*, stranger-friends❣️
Scientists from around the world demonstrating support for Greenland at the Arctic Science Summit taking place in Boulder, Colorado right now #assw2025
Scientist in gray and black and lanyard stands next to their poster titled ‘Spatiotemporal variability of carbon fluxes and responses to climatic factors at a tussock tundra site near Council, Alaska’
📈Winter carbon emissions from a carbon monitoring tower near Council, Alaska offset the C sink in growing season, and even exceeded summer uptake in some recent years.

Finally recovered from a full on 3 days of all things arctic vegetation science at the CAVSI workshop!
Great to meet loads of other ECR’s working on similar things and looking forward to the next steps

Today at #ASSW2025 there will be a silent show of support for our friends in Greenland outside the Indigenous pavilion at 11:50AM. Please join. There will be flags - no speeches.
