A purple cross, atop a rocky hill and above a vast valley, marking the spot in the Sonoran Desert where a man named Carlos A. Guerrero Sanchez died of hyperthermia in 2010 after reaching approximately 60 miles in Euclidean distance north of the U.S.-Mexico border and having likely traversed the rugged Baboquivari Mountains to avoid the U.S. Border Patrol. The cross was placed there in his memory by artist Alvaro Enciso.
