That has been my team's conclusion, but it has been hard to confirm, esp with all the focus on expiration of ePTC and IRS resetting the caps. Figured #ACAsky to the rescue 😀

Ooooh look what's AVAILABLE TO PREORDER! Looking pretty lush and £21.99 is about as affordable as it gets for a new academic book these days! @universitypress.cambridge.org #AcaSky

Choose your fighter meme with different drawings of animals pictured including a bird with an acorn like a bundle stick sitting on a branch with the words "too old for this shit but has got nowhere else to be" and a tiny hamster in a cape "thinks they're in charge. Isn't"
Every faculty member is at least two of the animals on this chart. #academicsky #acasky
This "Just in Time for Christmas" Hallmark movie apparently features a NTT community college professor in her first year being offered an associate professor position at Yale because the Dean was "browsing dissertations and thought hers had bestseller potential." #acasky
I have so much grading to do, and Canvas is down because of the AWS outage.
Object lesson #1940273 that maybe forcing us all to use crappy LMS tools that are beholden to tech infrastructures controlled by Bezos et al wasn't the best idea. #acasky
It’d probably be better for me to get back from the field more than a week before the paper is due 😅 #acasky
Lovely interview with our new OLH colleague Dr Maddie Sinclair who reflects on the importance of research being publicly available. "As a researcher, I became aware very early on of the structural inequalities in publishing systems, and I didn’t want to perpetuate them." #OpenAccess #AcaSky
This is a really exciting journal (re)launch at @openlibhums.org working with @the87press.bsky.social ! This poetry journal is doing such important work to address the massive under-representation of writers of colour and entrenched inequalities in literary publishing. #OpenAccess #AcaSky #poetry

Screenshot of a blog post that reads Cultural Appropriation? Willy Chavarría x Adidas’ “Oaxaca Slip-On” Statement from the Secretary of Cultures and Arts of Oaxaca (provided by Cultural Documentalist Laura Quiroz) On Sunday, August 3, 2025, designer Willy Chavarría unveiled his latest collaboration with Adidas—the “Oaxaca Slip-On” (see images here). While the shoe is being celebrated as a “nod to Chicano culture” and a “revival of Mexican tradition,” the Secretary of Cultures and Arts of the State of Oaxaca claims that Chavarría and Adidas have neglected to credit the Yalalag Community, “whose traditional huaraches were used as the aesthetic basis for the footwear.” This accusation of cultural appropriation is now being widely reported, including on CNN.com (August 6, 2025).
The nerdy tattle-tale in me grew up to be an academic who loves calling out designers who plagiarize and culturally appropriate. The latest is #Adidas x #WillyChavarría. Here’s what I wrote (including learning resources!): deed.parsons.edu/2025/08/07/c...

This is great news! Hopefully the UK can follow suit by funding similar collaborations between diamond university-based publishers, such as those affiliated with @oipassoc.bsky.social #OpenAccess #AcaSky
This meeting was so important. The N8 group of northern UK libraries are providing much-needed leadership to the whole sector. They’re standing up to a bullying, extractive commercial oligopoly that threatens the integrity of our research. I was honoured to be part of this day! #OpenAccess #AcaSky

Really encouraging to see today’s landmark statement from the N8 Research Partnership urging fundamental reform to academic publishing. The current system is completely unsustainable. I’ll be speaking at today’s N8 event about @ojcollective.bsky.social. www.n8research.org.uk/n8-research-... #AcaSky
