Looking across dry scrubby ground and under tall green thinly leaved bushes. There’s no nice grass, only long native type grasses recently attacked with the mower. There are also some weeds and tiny melaleucas that have been mowed flat. Lots of gumleaves and assorted debris mulched on the ground and a clump of tall melaleuca that’s been sawn off at ground level in the past and regrown. Next to that tortured bush and only about 20cm tall there are some barely noticeable green leaves (a red arrow is pointing to them). That is the rose.

Doing some aggressive gardening today up in the backyard and found a baby rosebush.
That’s the third baby rose that’s planted itself in the garden. I thought they needed careful looking after. Turns out they like hard clay, gumleaf mulch, and no water. #AccidentalSuccess
