WHO ARE WE? Public Interest Group on Cancer is a public – scientist partnership in Newfoundland and Labrador, currently consisting of 10 public members and two scientists. We formed in 2021. WHAT ARE OUR AIMS? We aim to improve the lives and conditions of people affected by cancer via research, public engagement and outreach, and advocacy activities. WHAT ARE OUR MAIN ACCOMPLISHMENTS FOR 2025? We continued our work at academic and public settings with our usual enthusiasm and determination 😊 1. We received the Memorial University’s President’s Award for Public Engagement in early 2025. 2. Together with local, national, and international guests, we co-created 12 podcast episodes and 8 guest blogs on cancer! We advocated for families affected by cancer via various means, including local media articles and interviews. 4. Our lead received a national leadership award in patient involvement in cancer research 😊 5.
