Sanji crouches behind a stone formation just outside Praetorium while Hyperia slumps against it, with a pained expression on her face. "Are you okay?" he asks. "No, I just watched my entire life's work burn to the ground around me", she replies.

Sanji is now visibly angry, fingers curling into a fist as he leans towards her. "Are you saying you were responsible for that...monstrosity?!" Hyperia does not meet his gaze, a faint half-smile on her lips, "Responsible for bringing it to life? Yes, I was. It was the proudest moment of my life."

Sanjis is now standing, furious, fists clenched, lips curled into an angry snarl. "That...THING...was the reason they had me strapped down and tortured like some sort of lab rat! If you hadn't just saved my life, I'd kill you!" Hyperia turns away, resigned, "Go ahead. You're free. There's nothing left for me to live for now anyway."

Sanji settles back down on the ground next to her, looking worried and perplexed. "If you believed that, you wouldn't have been fighting so hard to escape. You're free now too. Free to live your own life." Hyperia slowly turns towards him, a faint flicker of hope on her features, "I--I suppose you're right. Let's get to Mor Dhona and we can figure it out from there, hm?"

Rifling through all my previous backstories/AUs/etc, I'm tempted to bring back some of the elements of the "Yoru Mozo" (Kugane Yakuza AU) story. I loved giving Sanji a little bit of vigilante action as a treat. (And the enemies-to-lovers was a bonus too).

Hyperia's coming along well in her magickal training so far. Sanji helped with the basics and Alisaie's been putting her through the paces of Red Mage techniques, adapted for her gunblade.

It took them a bit to get to the latter point, considering Hyperia's background and the company Sanji tended to keep (the Scions). But once they realized everyone already knew how they felt about each other, the floodgates opened and they stopped holding back.
