Airbag explosion kills Gobabis woman
An airbag exploding out of a burning piece of scrap metal has led to the death of Josephine Setsisho (51), and caused serious injury to her son (3) at Gobabis on Monday.
This is according to head of community policing in the Omaheke region chief inspector Fina Sakajengenga.
She reports that the deceased had been burning a piece of metal procured by her husband from the Gobabis dumping site.
“It is suspected that the alleged airbag exploded and a shrapnel struck the victim who was next to the fire on the neck, killing her instantly and injured the son on the right eye,” Sakjengenga states.
The three-year-old was rushed to Gobabis State Hospital before being transferred to Windhoek where his condition remains serious.
Police investigations into the matter continue.
