A ★★★½ review of Colorful (2010)
70/100 It was released fifteen years ago, and its plot still raises relevant questions about adolescent suicide, and it doesn't do it in a subtle or gentler way, but I didn't see that as a negative thing. Confronting that problem, especially in a society like Japan where it's so recurrent and has been for decades, Colorful is a story that doesn't go for the simple message of learning to value life, but to confront what has led you to throw it away.
