I’ve finished the ‘before attending a conference’ blog post I was writing yesterday morning. I’d been hoping to publish this before I attended the conference (which I’m now home from), but better late than never! #AliceWrites #TrollopeConf
I have a new blog post, about:
- Business librarian secondary data responsibilities
- Bloomberg teaching and support
- A new challenge (and solution) getting time series data in Excel with BQL #AliceWrites
No, I didn’t spend much of the afternoon writing a blog post inspired by what I learned yesterday. Ok, I did. #AliceWrites
Surprisingly this is the first time I’ve written a blog post with much on this aspect of my work.
I’ve been reviewing 2035 & reflecting on some of my activities, professionally & personally. My new blog post includes:
Reviewing & change at work
Teaching
Research
DARTS9 conference
EBSCO
Reflection & record-keeping
Professional Development
Holidays, Reading & Theatre
Plans for 2026 #AliceWrites
My 2nd blog post of the week, and 2nd in my series about saving searches, is all about changing to the new EBSCO platform. My initial perspective on good and bad things, and a focus on the process I used to prepare, ensuring I continue to have access to all my #SystematicReview searches #AliceWrites
My 2nd blog post of the week, and 2nd in my series about saving searches, is all about changing to the new EBSCO platform. My initial perspective on good and bad things, and a focus on the process I used to prepare, ensuring I continue to have access to all my #SystematicReview searches #AliceWrites
I’ve been thinking lots recently about saving literature searches in databases: how I do this & why, especially for #systematicreview, & focusing at the moment on EBSCO databases (as we move to a new database platform). I’ve been writing about this in 2 new blog posts, the first is this #AliceWrites
I have a new blog post (I seem to be on a roll at the moment, with lots in progress and lots to reflect on!)
This is about processing a minor experience as a restaurant customer and how it affected me. And the start of some reflection on experiences of users of library services
#AliceWrites
I have another blog post reflecting on the effects of changes in my working hours. In my previous post I talked about personal effects. This one has personal effects, of a sort, too (I talk about clothes & lunch!) but also lots of really work adjacent topics like research & volunteering #AliceWrites
This year’s had work ups & downs, & changes to come. But good news personally: I’m now secure & full time in my academic liaison librarian job. I’ll have more to say about work changes & effects in time. For now, a blog post on personal effects of moving from part time to full time work #AliceWrites
I have a new blog post, about a chance observation (on our day trip into London yesterday), and the compulsion to write about it.
I love how writing has become such an important part of my life. #AliceWrites
Ooo, just remembered that I’m meant to use my hashtag when I share new writing! (To help me find it again) #AliceWrites)
I’ve been thinking over the last few months about the major element of my job that is teaching information literacy. I’ve written about this in a new blog post. It’s been so valuable to reflect on when, why, what & how I teach, & more. I feel motivated to explore this more in future. #AliceWrites
I haven’t written particularly about personal stuff from this year (many and varied) in that year in review - though I have of course referred to many personal things in my daily reflective posts. #AliceWrites
With it being the last day of the year, I thought I’d share again my 2024 year in review, published a couple of weeks ago. It’s mostly about work and work related activities. #AliceWrites
I’m very excited to share my Year in Review blog post for 2024. It’s been such a valuable experience working on this - thinking back over all the varied professional things I’ve been involved in. A practice I very much recommend.

Forgot my hashtag! #AliceWrites
Twitter is so far from my use these days that it always surprises me a bit when I see (usually from googling a hashtag) organisations still using it (I understand why…)
For ideas about how to use BlueSky as an alternative to Twitter, see my blog post from last month #AliceWrites
And the follow up piece #AliceWrites (though I full admit that my writing so far today has been all texting and social media… Will do something more substantial soon!)
Sitting in the Welcome Collection (coffee before reading room) for my very semi-regular afternoon to myself here while children are occupied. Planning on some writing (after #systematicreview upload to Rayyan…) & thought I’d share again my recentish blog post about writing-the 1st of 2 #AliceWrites
My own writing After sharing this post on BlueSky, I realised that there is another way that I use a hashtag – to keep track of my own writing. I post quite prolifically on BlueSky, so my posts disappear further down my feed fairly quickly. One of the things that I sometimes post about is links to my writing, both here on my blog and in other publications. So that I can find my BlueSky posts about my own writing easily, I include the hashtag #AliceWrites whenever I share my writing (or at least I aim to – sometimes I forget!). So remember that you can always create your own hashtags for specific purposes (the only limitation that I’m aware of being that hashtags have to start with a letter, not a number).
Added to the blog post after publishing! There’s always something… #AliceWrites
So… I will post this again next week, & mid-morning (a much better time to share new content), but can’t resist sharing my new blog post, about social media & BlueSky. The inspiration is for promoting the UK library & information people starter pack, though I’ve talked about lots more #AliceWrites
I've been scanning my post about last summer's big project, as I want link to a particular section in something I'm writing at the moment. I realised that the contents didn't link to all sections, now sorted. I was surprised at how much I did and wrote about, and want to share again. #AliceWrites
While doing this, I was thinking about my most recent (over a year ago now) post about Time and went to find it with the intention of sharing it (which I’m doing!). Much of it is still applicable, though there are other things I’m spending my time on now of course. #AliceWrites
I have an early getup tomorrow, heading to #CILIPconf24
My final blog post about preparing for the conference is on my selections for Day 2, including Change, Senior Leadership, Entrepreneurial Leadership, Diverse voices in literature, Evidence-informed practice & Inclusive collections #AliceWrites
When preparing for the #CILIPconf24, this week, I wrote about the sessions I’m planning to attend (& some I can’t). Details in my blog post of Day 1 of the conference include:
- Intellectual Freedom
- Artificial Intelligence
- Transformative Agreements
- Truth Decay
- Library Futures
#AliceWrites
I have been off work this week (hence being very active on here!) and have spent some of my time reflecting on annual leave and how I spend it - some work adjacent activities… Includes an update on my recent #systematicreview activity #Alicewrites
This is my blog post about preparing for the subject librarian presentations, written before the #cpd25 event #AliceWrites
I have written a new blog post, about preparing for my #cpd25 subject librarian talk later this morning. Glad to get this published in time, following so difficulties with Wordpress caching! #AliceWrites
Just boosting my latest blog post post - my second on becoming a writer - to ensure it’s not too far down my feed. I have so many increasing BlueSky interests and conversations that it’s easy for things to get lost (so, as of now, I’m starting a hashtag #Alicewrites
