Notes: I like thinking about what the Alincule represents. Somehow, it felt weird that this was Erenville's fate. Not wrong, not exactly, simply... well, he had lost the one person closest to him, hadn't he? His fate to lose her, his mother, his mentor, to be always just one missed connection away from her. A missed train, in this instance, though he had not known at the time. And, if he had known, would he have changed it? Would he have caught that train, or would he have remained as he was? If he had caught that train, would he have been able to live out the rest of his mother's life with her? He didn't know how old she was, after all, nobody did, Cahciua was a shetona who always kept that secret close to her chest. Or would he have then had to suffer watching her die? Worse, would he have been forced to wear a regulator and forgotten about her entirely? That last one was a fate worse than any other, he felt.

Actually, there were a lot of times, but when it was the middle of the night and Lily was fussing and both parents were exhausted, he both resented her for leaving and wished her back so fervently that he almost wished that the Azem stone in Grace's possession still held the summoning spell gifted by Hydaeyln.
