Today, we honor the life of Amber Hagerman.
She was just 9 years old when she was abducted and murdered 30 years ago.

From unimaginable loss came lasting change. Amber’s legacy led to the creation of #AMBERAlerts, a system that has helped bring more than a thousand children home safely.

On CBC Radio One there were two emergency alert system tests broadcast within an hour of each other.

The first was for Ontario and the second was for Québec.

I'm used to #AmberAlerts being broadcast, so I initially thought it was another #AmberAlert for a child.

Thankfully that was not the case.

So Chief Ohara confirmed my knowledge that they don't trigger #AmberAlerts unless they have vehicle or abduction information. This needs to change. They should be triggered any time a missing child is in immediate danger or threat.
