Actually that’s a failure of #anaesthetists if planned surgery - not the patients. My surgery the anaesthetists did a full review of my health and meds three weeks prior to the op. And they told gave me a list of what to stop and when. Also applies to anything blood thinning.

Anaesthetic training is a minimum of 7 years to CCT, if that is the path you choose. A great many #anaesthetists are in ‘non-training’ senior roles such as SAS doctors. Anyhow, you get the gist. You need a lot of training to ‘just put people to sleep’. We do a lot more than that.

There are some serious issues affecting #shielding #anaesthetists

Isolation
Loneliness
Guilt
Battles with HR/Occ Health/Deaneries
Over work & under utilisation
Balancing homeschool & work
Relationships
Feeling forgotten about
Poor communication about shielding
No end in sight...
