I read The Silver Bone, by Andrey Kurkov (tr. Boris Dralyuk, 2024), first in a trilogy (so far?) following a young policeman in 1919 Kyiv. Yeah, there's a macguffin, but the boy-detective is appealing and I think I'm going to like his girlfriend as well.
