Much of Lee's work focuses on Indigenous Knowledge and epistemologies. Lee is the director of Native Skywatchers, a program created to record, map, and share Indigenous star knowledge. Lee is mixed-race Lakota and works with Ojibwe, Dakota and Lakota communities to preserve those cultures' astronomical and ecological knowledge. Lee has worked as an expert consultant for UNESCO, curated prestigious exhibitions, served as a world-class science communicator, and presented keynotes to organizations and at major conferences around the world.
