It’s my birthday!! The last few months have been exceptionally difficult. For me personally, with my workplace being impacted so heavily, and for the country and the world as a whole, which is hurting in so many ways due to a combination of incompetence, apathy, and cruelty motivated by the greed and vanity of a few powerful people. It is hard not to feel powerless in the face of that. I am reminding myself, though, to step out of the current moment and appreciate the things that don’t suck: * I am alive * I am surrounded by friends and family who I love and who love me * I have time for artistic expression, through art and dance * I have cats! * There are so many places to explore and so many new things to learn * So many amazing cartoons exist 😂 * There are people writing wonderful stories and creating amazing art * Even in the face of everything, my coworkers wore my silly party hats and celebrated with me today * There is sushi and there is dancing, and I am enjoying both tonight with my amazing partner of 12 years * There will be a time that isn’t this time I have lived another year and I am determined to continue living and, as has been the philosophy of my thirties, continue to find joy 💖 #selfportrait #digitialart #fanartist #artist #artdecade #thrivingthirties #birthday #joy
