NEA Removes 'Gender Ideology' Certification After ACLU of Rhode Island Lawsuit In response to a lawsuit filed by the ACLU and ACLU of Rhode Island in U.S. District Court of Rhode Island on behalf of Rhode Island Latino Arts and others, the National Endowment for the Arts agreed to remove a certification requirement forcing artists to attest they will not 'promote gender ideology' for funding applications while the case is pending.
