It's one of those weird days where I don't have anything to do until late this afternoon, so how about some #AskPitchDis? Just reply to this post with any #PitchDis questions you may have, or any question for me in general 😊

Since we have a lot of new followers and I’m already starting to get some questions in the inbox, let’s have an #AskPitchDis session until 4pm EDT today. Reply to this post with any questions you might have.

Unfortunately, I'm probably not going to have time for another #AskPitchDis before Tuesday 😕 If you have any last-minute questions, please DM or email me. Things are going to get very busy come Tuesday so I want to make sure I've replied to everyone in time.

#AskPitchDis question from the #PitchDis mailbox: Does the 300 character limit include spaces?

A: Yes. Each space, emoji, and enter/return counts as one character.

#AskPitchDis Q: I have an agent, but they don’t represent the genre I’m currently writing. Can I pitch?

A: If you're pitching the genre they don't represent, it's fine from my end. #PitchDis

#AskPitchDis question: Does #PitchDis get any of the royalties if a book is published?

Answer: No. The event only connects you with agents and editors. I make NO money and in fact spend money for the site and apps needed to run the event. That's why I had to set up the #PitchDis Ko-Fi this year.

I have a #AskPitchDis question! Will there ever be a version of the event for agented authors? This is my favorite pitch event and I’d love the chance to participate and pitch to editors again even though I’m agented!

First #AskPitchDis question: Can I pitch the same book I pitched during #PitchDis last year?

Answer: Absolutely! As long as you didn't publish it anywhere (including online) and don't have an agent, you can pitch the same book.

@pitchdis.com #AskPitchDis if we submitted a practice form, should we expect to have heard something back?

I've been getting some great questions about #PitchDis this year that I haven't gotten before. Feel free to email or DM with any you may have (after making sure they're not on the FAQs and eligibility pages of the site). I'll also post some during #AskPitchDis on 8/26 4-6pm EDT.

It's a rainy day and my brain won't let me get much work done, so how bout a quick #AskPitchDis? Reply to this post with any questions you have about the event. I'll stick around to answer until at least 3pm EDT.

Shutting this down for today! The next (scheduled) #AskPitchDis will be on August 26, 4-6pm EDT, but I'll try to have a couple more as time permits.

Last #AskPitchDis question!
Q:Will we know which agents/editors are participating?
A: A list will be posted on the site Monday! More may be added after the pitch window closes, up until Sept 22. You are NOT obligated to submit to any agent/editor you don't want to submit to (1/2)

Q: How will I know if I get a request?
A: Agents and editors will have access to your pitches September 23-25. They'll comment on pitches they are interested in with submission instructions, and each of those comments will be emailed to you the following week. #AskPitchDis (1/2)

Q: Do my characters have to be disabled?
A: No. The event is for disabled, neurodivergent, and chronically ill *authors* So long as you self-identify as one of those, you pay pitch whether your characters are disabled or not. #AskPitchDis

From Twitter:
Q: Will you have a contemporary fantasy category?
There wasn't one on the practice form but it's a pretty common genre?
A: We had someone else request this, so it has been added. It's not on the screen shot on the site, but it will be on the form when it opens Tuesday.

Q: Why can't I choose more than 2 genres?
A: Agents and editors need to know how to market your book, and they also need to know YOU know what genre(s) your book would fall into. You may have a mash up, but you should have no more than 2 main genres. #AskPitchDis
