Extended Ionized Fe Objects in the UWIFE Survey We explore systematically the shocked gas in the first Galactic quadrant of the Milky Way using the United Kingdom Infrared Telescope (UKIRT) Wide-field Infrared Survey for Fe+ (UWIFE). The UWIFE survey is the first imaging survey of the Milky Way in the [Fe II] 1.644 um emission

No certainty of a Milky Way–Andromeda collision - Nature Astronomy It is widely believed that the Milky Way is set to collide with Andromeda, its nearest neighbour. New calculations using data from Hubble and Gaia that account for the effects of other galaxies show an almost 50% chance of our Galaxy avoiding this fate.

Apparently the collision of Andromeda and the Milky Way is something you should only pencil in your calendar. Plans may change.
