Aurinia saxatilis, gold alyssum, and blurred out in the background, Muscari, grape hyacinths. Aurinia in the foreground is bright gold, with many stems of tiny four-petalled flowers; it contrasts pleasingly with the blue-purple of the grape hyacinths. When you get close enough the Aurinia smells powerfully of honey.

A Magnolia stellata, star magnolia, cultivar. Against a blurry pastel background, a single flower. It has many strap-shaped pure white petals, and above them, a complicated cone-shaped reproductive structure typical of Magnolia.

A closeup of Taraxacum officinale, dandelion. The composite flower has long yellow ray flowers around the outside, then inside that a ring of ray flowers showing the really interesting double-curves pistils, then in the middle a group of disk flowers with prominent stamens. Several other blooms are in the photos, cropped off or out of focus, and there is a bit of grass and some dandelion leaves.

Tulipa 'Akebono', Jn. Haakman an Zn. B.V. 2007. The open form of the flower I posted in bud the other day. Looking down into a double tulip with maybe 3-4 rows of petals, each soft bronzy-gold, with light washes of red. In the center, many golden stamens. In the background, blurry leaves.
