Spare a thought also for what could have been if Hadjar's Red Bull hadn't self-destructed and if Max would have started from a semi-normal starting position (he gained 14 spots during the race!). That could have been six cars with a legitimate shot

Overall I'm cautiously optimistic.

Great racing, squirrelly cars, huge learning curves and multiple teams fighting for the win.

I also appreciate the creeping sense of unreliability re-entering the sport and the increasing necessity of technical advancement

Oh what could have been if Ferrari hadn't missed the boat on both VSCs! We could very well have had four cars fighting for the lead in this one...

Unless the Pirellis drop off, I don't yet see the risk materializing for Mercedes. With 32-lap-old tyres, they're running times within a few tenths of the Ferraris who are on tyres fewer than 20 laps old. Leclerc in P3 is 15 seconds back with 12 laps to go.
