I *did* post my Haiku about this, didn't even realize that I hadn't invented the #autisticpoetry hashtag. Back in the dark ages of the '80s my young naif had a few pieces published. Still dabble, but I just don't connect with the much published modern stuff so quit submitting for publication.

Here is my poem before I get sent to the Autistic Holistic Organic Patriotic Re-education Farm:

Are Eff Kay Junior
Evil fail-son weirdo scumbag
Ugly face deserves punch

I sensed too much
First rapid movement
Riding between
Snow and sand
And then harsh lights
And running fans
Then too much focus
Strange how this can
Overstimulate
I sought the comfort
Of a quiet night
Soft stars arose
While sunset glowed
Around the edge
Still not right
But close

Because some people ignorantly think neurodivergent and disabled folks aren’t out here writing poetry, I’d love to see some #autisticpoetry and #disabilitypoetry. Poetry has always been activism and visibility, expression and art.

He said some people never will write poems
This man of gravel words is ignorant
He doesn’t hear the nodding of the head
He doesn’t see the repetitious lines
He doesn’t recognize that autists live
As walking, swaying, humming poems divine
