( ID: Just a reminder, we already know the cause of autism and why we see it more nowadays. It's not some secret. The rates have not increased. Visibility and diagnosis have. Back when rfk Jr was a kid, high support needs autistic people were lumped under "mentally retarded" (which obviously is a harmful phrase now) and shipped off to institutions so they were out of the public. Low support needs autistic people were just called special or odd. I see plenty of autistic people in their 50s and up. Now, we don't have institutions to lock people away in and more people who would have been called just a little odd are now actually diagnosed. Add on that girls and women are actually getting diagnosed, which wasn't a thing even 20 years ago, and you get the impression that there are autistic people everywhere. We know autism is genetic. While we don't know the exact genetic cause, we know spontaneous mutations can occur or it can be inherited. There could be something causing more mutations but I don't think it's Tylenol (if it was Tylenol we'd see higher rates back in the 90s early 00s and less today because less pregnant women take it nowadays) or vaccines. If the government really wanted to help autistic people, they'd fund medicaid, snap, and other assistance programs. They wouldn't gut the department of education which allows for accessibility in school. They wouldn't want to eliminate dei because that includes neurodivergent people trying to find a job. They wouldn't talk about disabled people as a burden who are leeches on society and don't pay taxes (their words, not mine). But they're not doing any of that. It's not about helping autistic people, it's about eugenics. )
They don't want to help neurodiverse people. They want us gone, one way or another.
It should disturb you.

( ID: Autism will lead you to believe there is something fundamentally wrong with you in the way that there always seems to be an invisible barrier between you and other people that stops you from connecting to others no matter how hard you try. But at least there is birds. For the longest time, I had no idea I was autistic. My Mom had my tested for ADHD, but it felt like I had been left behind by everyone - even the school system. I had trouble catching up in my subjects, in social settings and in relationships. I mostly spent time alone in my room or by myself - because at least with me I didn't have to "pretend". And hey, I could watch birds from my window. )
I wish I had been given the proper aid and materials to see me through my formative years - maybe then I wouldn't of spent so many years struggling.
Even now, I still have trouble.
