#BBCPersian journalists are under great pressure: "Our family members in #Iran are being punished only for being related to a BBC Persian journalist." Interrogations of returning family members are routine: elderly parents, siblings are pressured to stop their relatives working for the BBC.

The risk to #BBCPersian journalists+families: "After the conflict began, threats directed at BBC Persian journalists and their families have become increasingly severe...Security officials told their families that, in a wartime context, they are justified in targeting family members as hostages."
#BBCPersian journalists have provided a window on a world closed to outside reporters, giving a voice to those in Iran, and providing them with a precious link to the outside world. Their work is crucial and often done at great risk and cost to their families.

If this situation doesn’t show the government the vital importance of the #BBCWorldService including #BBCPersian, I can’t think what would - especially as #Trump has gutted Voice of America. The notion that the WS should be further defunded by the UK government is patently ridiculous+self-harming.
