A new study lead by researchers at Baylor College of Medicine and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital reveals a novel mechanism that drives the development of pediatric supratentorial ependymoma (EPN), the third most common pediatric brain tumor.
“Understanding these developmental vulnerabilities opens the door to new therapeutic approaches aimed at pushing tumor cells toward full differentiation or targeting the early progenitor population that fuels tumor growth.”

The Texas Association of Neurological Surgeons (TANS) Annual Meeting is currently being held in Houston, with many BCM Neurosurgery faculty, residents and fellows leading presentations and discussions. Leading the charge is Akash Patel, M.D., who serves as TANS VP & Program Chair. On day one, Dr. Patel presented on meningiomas, his clinical and scientific expertise.
