It's a cold day 1610 of the #hobbystreak in Milwaukee, which has also been a good time to play some games. I did a demo of BLKOUT, so I have a better understanding of the game, and played Guards of Traitor's Toll, which I may want to host a in the future. #BLKOUT #greyfornowgames#adepticon
Three figures in the snow: - a tall woman with white hair - an old man overencumbered by a tourist backpack with loot - a child with a dome-shaped robot head. The head is yellow.
View from the other side. The old man stands on a buried barrel.
These three, with previously painted monster hunter, rescue bot and an armed paramedic.
Three more minis from my previously built backlog.
Now, also available for sale.

More work on the #BLKOUT UN Raid Force Alpha Golem.
Last night was going over some of the larger metal plates with Gold Gray for mid-tones. Then another drybrush of Stonewall Gray this morning for more details.
I think this is as light as I'll go for the machinery parts.
A vertically split photo showing the front and back sides of the same 32mm scale wargaming miniature. The images show a bipedal, humanoid robot with a boxy head. The miniature has been painted white, and the hard parts have been painted in a dark gray.
Tough to find energy and motivation to work on hobby stuff when things at home aren't that great.
But I started on one of the #BLKOUT UN Raid Force Alpha "combat inorganics" — known as Golems — last night.
I just realized that its forearms should also be that dark gray metal. Oops.
The gaming report for January 2026 is pretty light, as there was a lot of game rules books to read. I did play 5 matches of Flesh and Blood, built 54 miniatures and tried out BLKOUT. #fabtcg #miniaturegames #BLKOUT
Dear #Nerdlings,
If you were to assign Warhammer #40k units/factions to #BLKOUT units/factions, what would your final "counts-as" model list for BLKOUT look like?
#WarhammerCommunity
A photo of a 32mm scale wargaming miniature of a woman in a flight suit, next to a stack of scratch-built crates covered with a brown cloth. Text at the top says "Cloth covered crates for #BLKOUT" and text at the bottom reads "Made from 5mm foam board and wet wipes."
Huh. I guess I didn't share it here, but I made a "visual tutorial" of the cloth covered crates scatter terrain for #BLKOUT.
You can check it out over on my Instagram.

A photo of a miniature shipping crate on a beige gridded cutting mat. The crate is made from 5mm thick foam board, measures 120mm long, 50mm wide, and 50mm high, and has been painted matte black.
Spent last night making more scatter terrain for #BLKOUT.
This is a (roughly) 1:48 scale, 20' shipping container. I rounded to the nearest whole number, making it 12cm, by 5cm, by 5cm.
It's made from 5mm thick foam board that I detailed with a ballpoint pen.

My first nearly finished terrain piece. Paint scheme is Indonesian workshop. A shipping agent and engineering workshop plastered with posters from #BLKOUT. Added scatter terrain pieces as fittings, stock, and furniture. Just need to add some posters and graffiti to the rear, then varnish.
It finally happened. On day 1455 of the #hobbystreak, the much delayed first game of BLKOUT was played. @roberteallen.bsky.social and I tried to figure out the rules, and I am not sure either of use played it correctly, but we both agreed to play it again int the future #BLKOUT
28-32 mm miniature. A modern soldier kneeling worth rifle pointed upwards within a room with white painted walls. Some machinery is off to the right.
Painting up my #BLKOUT minis. They're 3D printed in one piece with more detail than I can cope with+difficult to reach spots. They're fantastic but probably more suited to experienced painters. This team is in Army Painter's Tundra Taupe, Prairie Ochre, and Burnt Turf. Olive brown and yellow browns.
This Sunday, February 1st, at around 1500 JST, we'll be streaming our first #BLKOUT game of 2026 on @upturnedtable.bsky.social YouTube channel.
Okay. After adding a bit more weathering pigment — in various shades of rust to make it look more natural — and a small tuft of dry, brown grass, I'm calling the #BLKOUT UN Pilot model 100% done.
I've learned a few things while working on her, and am pretty happy with how she turned out.
Been a while since I worked on the #BLKOUT UN Pilot model, but I picked up some Vallejo Weathering Pigments and binder yesterday.
It's the first time I've used them, and don't really know what I'm doing, but that looks kind of okay.
Just like the Manticor Force Box — and all the #BLKOUT Force Boxes — the UN RFA Force Box contains a postcard-sized force card and three plastic, credit card-sized unit cards.
The force card has some in-world info, special rules, and combat loads. The unit cards have stats for the units.
Okay, we've done the Manticor #BLKOUT Force Box, let's look at the other one I got.
This is the UN Raid Force Alpha Force Box. I got the RFA models in cast resin so I could compare the quality to the one-piece resin models in the Manticor box.
And here's everything in the #BLKOUT Manticor Borz Group Force Box all ready to paint up.
I think I'm going to go for the color scheme on the box — black body armor, equipment, and gear, with a blood red helmet visor.
And the #BLKOUT rule book is tiny.
One appeal of #BLKOUT for me was the low model count.
There are nine models in the Manticor Borz Group Force Box:
a Bratva Team (4x models);
an Insertion Team (4x models);
and a Cyka Team (1x model).
That's a full force. You're not really meant to play with more than three units.
So, inside the #BLKOUT Manticor Borz Group Force Box is the force card and three plastic unit cards.
The force card has a bit of in-world information on the front, and special rules and weapons for the group on the back.
Each unit card has basic info on the front, and special rules on the back.
I deliberated for a long time over what to get for #BLKOUT, and ultimately went with two force boxes, the acrylic tokens, and a terrain kit rather than the 2-player starter set.
One of the force boxes I got was the Manticor Borz Group in single piece (meaning 3D printed) resin.
A distressed orange background, with "The Year of BLKOUT 2026" in stylized letters over it.
I really wanted to do an unboxing/review of all the #BLKOUT stuff I got from Enemy Spotted Studios on @upturnedtable.bsky.social .
But with work and parenting commitments, that's just not going to happen. Especially not in time for our first game in February.
So I think I'll have to do blog posts.

An overhead photo of a stack of square MDF boards, wrapped in shrinkwrap, on a white table. The boards have been cut into various pieces with a laser, and the label shows the kit builds terrain for a 32mm scale miniature wargame. Creeping into the right edge of the photo are a pair of child-sized hands.
Started assembling my #BLKOUT Space Elevator terrain set from Death Ray Designs last night.
It's not hard to put together, but I'm still curious why the kit doesn't include ANY instructions whatsoever. 🤔
