So Tagilla has loaded in and killed me in first 5 minutes of last 3 factory raids, cleaving straight through my T6 front plate in Zabralo with BS ammo in 3 shots...
Leave me alone and let me zap these PMCs you bastard. #tarkov #eft #suffering #badgamedesign
Going to pause here to talk about fall damage, why it's #badgamedesign, and why I won't be using it.
The point of fall damage is not realism, which is not inherently fun anyway, but to control where the player can go. This control usually manifests as, "Surprise! You're dead!" It's not fun.
Additionally, the game will save whenever you get to a designated safe area. Some work needs to be done to make sure this doesn't ruin your game and trap you in an area with no resources. Allowing that to happen is very #badgamedesign
You could do this by, for each boss, having 1-2 NPCs be wrong with their advice. However, this is #badgamedesign. Part of the point is showing how helpful it is to lean on other people on your journey to recovery. As such, I will not be doing this.
There should also be indicators on the map for freshly destroyed obstructions. Only a certain personality type is going to search your whole map to find the thing unlocked.
You can usually get out of a lot of #badgamedesign just by communicating with your player.
As for hiding meta-knowledge from the player, it might be worthwhile to make it so that there's an obstruction for terrain that you don't have the ability to get to. You literally can't see the places you'll eventually be able to get to.
Is this #badgamedesign? Let's discuss.
